About IPA

Originally formed by and for competitors, The IPA has a primary goal to represent the competitors whose classes were normally overlooked by the larger sanctioning bodies. With this in mind, the IPA was also able to offer a grandstand event to smaller venues that normally would not be able to afford a show from the larger sanctioning bodies.

The Illiana Pullers Association, Inc is a state level sanctioning body for the sport of truck and tractor pulling. If you are not familiar with the sport of truck and tractor pulling, truck & tractor pulling is a contest of hi-performance vehicles “pulling” a weight transfer device, known as a “sled” on a purposely built course or “the track.” The track is normally 300 feet long, 30 feet wide and constructed of the most readily available dirt. The contestants in each class hook their vehicles to the sled to see whose vehicle can pull the sled the farthest.

Now, after more than 10 years of incorporation, the diversity of the organization has improved greatly, the organization now offers nine sanctioned classes. Promoters and competitors have three truck classes and six tractor classes to choose from. Each class has its own unique rules and look. The members of the IPA compete for an end of the year point fund in each of the respective classes. They earn points by competing at IPA sanctioned events, similar to the way competitors in NASCAR do. The championship creates exceptional competition in all of the classes at each event.
